Every American should vote red in the midterm election tomorrow. The Success of our country depends on the continuance of the Republican agenda. Polls are indicating that Republicans are in danger of losing the House of Representatives . If Democrats gain back power not only will the far-left Nancy Pelosi regain her position as Speaker of the House, they will gain powerful leadership positions which will enable them to obstruct, investigate, and possibly impeach the president.
If Democrats control the House they will not only block Trump’s legislative agenda they will also gain subpoena power and important chairperson positions in congressional committees.
A rundown of the leadership positions in a Democrat led House
Jerry Nadler– a vocal Trump-hater will become chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. This position will give Nadler the power to lead impeachment efforts against Trump. When Nadler has been asked if he would pursue impeachment he has refused to say that he would not. Nadler has stated that he “would have to investigate any credible alllegations of perjury and other things”, regarding Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Elijah Cummings- Another vociferous critic of Trump will lead the Oversight and Government Reform Committee- the House’s investigative body. In this role Cummings will have subpoena power and the ability to hold countless hearings. He will undoubtedly conduct endless investigations in an attempt to find anything to destroy Trump’s presidency. At the very least he will bog the Trump administration down with countless hearings and inquiries.
Maxine Waters- Waters so hates Trump that she regularly chants “impeach 45” when she is speaking to supporters. Waters is set to head the Financial Services Committee. In this role she will look to undo the improvements that the Trump administration has made to the burdensome Dodd-Frank Act and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. She will also no doubt attempt to use her new power to gain access to Trump’s personal financial information, and do all that she can to impeach the president.
Nita Lowey– a far-left legislator completely at odds with Trump’s agenda will head the Appropriations Committee. Undoubtedly, she will use the power of the purse to advance the spending legislation according to the Democrat agenda.
Adam Smith– Smith is poised to head the Armed Services Committee. He has stated that he wants less money spent on defense, a more limited role of the U.S. military in the world. He will also attempt to curtail Trump’s efforts to expand the United States’ nuclear arsenal.
Bobby Scott- Scott will become the head of the Education and the Workforce committee. He will look to expand the $1.3 trillion dollars in outstanding student loan debt. He is also a vocal critic of the education secretary Betsy DeVos.
Adam Schiff- A vitriolic Trump- hater who would support and encourage impeachment effiorts. As the top Democrat in the House Intelligence Committee Schiff will take the reins from his Republican colleague Devin Nunes. Schiff will no doubt attempt to find any scintilla of evidence that could be spun to indicate Trump-Russia collusion. In the past he has even unscrupulously claimed that there was evidence. This shift in power will also make it vey difficult for the Republicans in the House Intelligence Committee to continue its investigation into the corruption in the FBI and DOJ. Thanks to the efforts of Nunes the Committee uncovered overt bias, and the appearance that attempts were made by high-ranking intelligence officials to thwart Trump’s presidential campaign, and presidency. However, with Schiff in charge, the investigations will be halted, as he will have no interest in exploring these matters any further.
