Disgracefully, the mainstream media and Democrat lawmakers are attempting to lay the blame for the massacre of 31 people with the President of the United States. Since the back- to back shootings have occurred, the accusations that President Trump is racist, and a white supremacist have reached a fevered pitch.
Those looking to score points against the president have fixated on the fact that President Trump has referred to the situation at our border as an “invasion”. In his manifesto, the El Paso shooter referred to the mass migration of Hispanics to the United States as an “invasion”. This is all the left needed to tie Trump to the massacre.
Background
Since last year, migrants from Central America have been flooding over our southern border in unprecedented numbers. Even Obama’s former Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson stated on FoxNews in April –
“By any measure, 4,000 arrests in a day, 100,000 in a month- that’s the population of the city of Albany, N.Y.- that suddenly shows up on our southern border in one month is a crisis…It’s a crisis because it overwhelms…our immigration officials’ ability to deal with it, and it’s a crisis because you have to absorb that population somehow into southern border towns.”
What The Media Didn’t Report About The Shooter’s Manifesto
It is obvious to anyone who has read the manifesto that the shooter’s actions were not incentivized by the president. In his manifesto he explained that his animus towards Hispanics was ignited after he read “The Great Replacement” -a book which fear mongers about the dangers of white Christians being replaced with Muslims and non-whites through mass immigration.
Further, in the last paragraph of the manifesto the shooter explicitly stated that the President’s rhetoric did not shape his opinion.
“My ideology has not changed for several years. My opinions on automation, immigration, and the rest, predate Trump and his campaign for President. I put this here because some will blame the President…This is not the case.”
Conveniently, the media has only reported on the shooter’s hostility towards mass immigration. However, the shooter held other opinions which have more in common with many of the Democrat presidential candidates.
The shooter railed against “unchecked corporations”, which are causing “The takeover of the United States government”. He also expressed the need for the United States to pass universal health care and provide a basic universal income for its citizens. He lamented that mass immigration would mean more “dependence on a government welfare system’, and therefore harder to achieve “ambitious social projects like universal health care and UBI..”
The shooter complained about the cost of college, and that it has led “to a generation of indebted”. He also decried that our environment was being destroyed, and that the government was unwilling to take action. He reasoned that with less people in the country America would consume less resources- “If we can get rid of enough people, then our way of life can become more sustainable.”
It’s interesting that the media’s portrayal of the shooter’s motivation centered only on immigration, and no mention of his ideas and complaints that don’t align with President Trump’s ideologies. His views on a robust welfare state, student debt and the environment have nothing in common with President Trump’s policies, and much in common with the ideology of many in the Democrat party.
The Dayton Ohio Shooter
The fact that the media is mostly silent on the background of the Dayton shooter underscores that they are attempting to use these tragedies to harm Trump’s presidency.
The Dayton shooter had a Twitter account which was suspended shortly after the shootings. However, according to the website “Heavy” which reviewed his Twitter page, he described himself as “he/him/ anime fan/ metalhead/ leftist. “Heavy” also screenshot many of the shooter’s tweets before they were removed. His tweets indicated support for Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, and disdain for President Trump. He wrote on Twitter, “I want socialism, and I’ll not wait for the idiots to finally come round to understanding.”
Where’s the Blame for Democrats?
The Dayton shooter’s ideology is the antithesis of Trump’s, but comports with many of the Democratic presidential candidates. Based on the new standard being set by those on the left, should Warren, Sanders, and other Democrats who espouse the same sentiments as the killers, also be considered complicit with their action?
The El Paso shooter wrote that a larger population, as a result of immigration, would hasten the destruction of our environment. Should Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez, who has fear- mongered about the world ending in 12 years, if we don’t address climate change, also be held responsible for the actions of the El Paso shooter?
The self- described member of ANITIFA who attempted to blow up an ICE detention center in Tacoma Washington, left behind a manifesto which referred to the facility as ”concentration campus”. Why did no one in the media blame the numerous lawmakers and media personalities, who also referred to the facilities as concentration camps, for the violent actions of this man?
Further, no one blamed Bernie Sanders when one of his supporters hunted down and attempted to massacre a group of Republican lawmakers in the summer of 2017. Rep. Steve Scalise was shot numerous times and barely survived.
The Democrat Strategy
Since Trump announced his candidacy for president, his character, and fitness for office have been mercilessly attacked. When he won the election it was predicted that the economy would tank, and that our nation would be imperiled. Reality- the exact opposite has occurred.
For 2 1/2 years Democrats and news outlets have been shouting that the president of the United States colluded with the Russian government to steal the presidential election. In spite of numerous partisan investigations, conducted by those with great animus towards the president, Russian collusion has been proven to be a hoax. A hoax possibly instigated, and no doubt fueled by opposition research paid for by Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
Unfortunately, it appears that the Democrat party has chosen a new strategy to pick up where Russian collusion failed- not only is President Trump a white supremacist, but so is anyone who supports him. They are not only attacking the president, they are also aiming their venom at the tens of millions of Americans who plan to vote for Trump in 2020.
Shamefully, most of the Democratic presidential candidates have outright stated that Trump is a white nationalist. Beto O’Rourke has even compared the Trump administration to the Third Reich.
This tactic is clearly an attempt to not only quell support for the president, but to silence his supporters. Senator Cory Booker is calling for President Trump to end his rallies, claiming they promote white nationalism. In addition, Rep. Joaquin Castro, the brother of Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro, has recently published the names and employers of 44 Trump donors. The only possible explanation for this breach of privacy, is to intimidate supporters into not donating to Trump’s re-election campaign.
There is zero evidence that Trump is anti-immigrant or that he harbors malevolent feelings for “people of color”. Believing that America needs to enforce its borders is not racist or anti-immigrant.
President Trump has unequivocally denounced white supremacy. Further, the policies he has enacted belie these vile accusations.
The Democrat party, along with a complicit media are attempting to deny millions of Americans their First Amendment right to freely speak and advocate for the president. Hopefully conservatives will stand strong against this un-American tactic.
