Make no mistake there are anti-Trump operatives in top positions in our Intelligence community who have been attempting to take down our current president since before he was even elected.
During the 2016 presidential election the Federal Bureau of Investigation began a probe into the Trump campaign, which was lead by an FBI official, Peter Strzok, with an unquestionable bias against Trump. Text messages uncovered by the Department of Justice Inspector General revealed Strzok, held a vehement hatred and disdain for Trump. Strzok actually wrote in one text that he would “stop” Trump from becoming elected. As revealed by the DOJ IG, Strzok was one of many FBI officials working on the investigation, which was dubbed “crossfire Hurricane”, with an anti- Trump bias.
Former FBI Director James Comey, has also made it clear that he has always had an animus for Trump. It was Comey’s orchestrated leak, via a “friend”, which tripped the opening of Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation.
Lets not forget that it was former Director of the CIA John Brennan who arranged for the the Trump-Russia collusion narrative to leak to the media during the presidential campaign in late August 2016. Some believe that Brennan was at the center of instigating the allegation of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian nationals. Brennan, who is now an MSNBC on-air contributor, is a vociferous critic of the president.
Since the 2016 election President Trump’s administration has been rocked by saboteurs leaking information to the media in an attempt to harm his presidency. The first leak occurred just weeks into Trump’s presidency when an official within the intelligence community illegally disclosed the contents of then National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s phone conversation with the Russian ambassador, to the media.
The latest disclosure of what should have been a private conversation between President Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart has come to national attention through a whistle blower complaint. Some have questioned whether this is truly a “whistle blower” since he did not possess first hand knowledge of the claimed events laid out in the complaint; and according to the Inspector General he has partisan motivations. Reportedly the whistle blower is a male CIA agent, who was once assigned to the White House.
A 30- minute phone call between President Zalensky of Ukraine and President Trump has morphed into the greatest threat to Trump’s presidency to date, igniting the current “impeachment inquiry” currently underway in the Democratically controlled House of Representatives.
One of the accusations made by the whistle blower is that the Trump administration moved the records of this call to a classified security system. It’s alleged by the whistle blower and Democrat lawmakers that this was done in an attempt to cover up the conversation because they believed that Trump made illicit requests of the Ukrainian president.
Clearly, the Trump administration is not involved in a cover up – they not only released the transcript of the call, they also disclosed the Whistle blower’s complaint. Neither of which was required. Further, many sources have reported that after back- to- back leaks of transcripts from President Trump’s conversations with the leaders of Australia and Mexico in 2017 it became standard practice to store President Trump’s private conversations with other world leaders on a more secure server.
The whistle blower and many on the left have also alleged that the transcript of the call revealed that President Trump is using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country which will benefit his presidential reelection campaign They claim that he has demanded that Ukraine “dig up dirt” on his political rival- Joe Biden, using U.S. military aid as leverage. No where in the conversation does Trump mention or even imply that U.S. aid is contingent on obtaining “dirt” on his political opponent.
Further, during the call Joe Biden was only mentioned once, and only after Zalensky stated that he wanted to root out corruption in his country. Biden has publicly bragged about forcing Ukrainian officials to fire the prosecutor who was investigating a Ukrainian natural gas company, Burisma Holdings. At the time of the firing, in spite of lacking any relevant expertise, Biden’s son Hunter was paid $50,000 a month by Burisma to sit on its Board of Directors.
Contrary to the mainstream media’s claims that Joe and Hunter Biden have been cleared of any wrongdoing, the Biden’s actions have not been fully investigated. Why was Hunter given this lucrative position, in spite of being wholly unqualified, while his father was Vice President of the United States and point man between the U.S. and Ukraine? Moreover, did Biden know that his son was seemingly profiting off of his influential position?
It was in the context of corruption in Ukraine that Trump requested that Zalensky look into the firing of the prosecutor. At no point in the conversation did Trump mention the 2020 election. The transcript also does not reveal that Trump asked Zelensky to search for disparaging information on Joe Biden. He only asked that Ukrainian officials investigate a singular incident, which occurred in Ukraine involving the possible corruption of an American who is a candidate for the most powerful position in the world. This is far from commensurate with asking a foreign nation to find “dirt” on a political opponent.
Further, it is within Trump’s legal purview to solicit the Ukrainian government to aid the U.S. in an investigation of possible illicit activities by Americans. A treaty signed in 1998 involving Ukraine, the U.S., and the U.K. allows the cooperation between the three nations to investigate and prosecute crimes.
If Democrats need an example of what it looks like to pay foreign nationals to dig up dirt on a political opponent they should read Hillary Clinton’s Russian -sourced dossier, paid for by her campaign. However this dossier wasn’t just comprised of “dirt” it was filled with fabrications, many of which have been outrightly disproven.
Incredibly, this opposition research authored by a British national, Christopher Steele, was used as evidence by the FBI to spy on members of Trump’s campaign; and was a factor in sparking the FBI’s investigation into the Trump campaign.
Since Trump announced his candidacy its clear that not only were his Democratic opponents looking to defeat him, but so were deep state operatives within our intelligence community. Unfortunately, as evidenced by the many leaks to the press and this partisan whistleblower complaint, many still remain. Incredibly, House Intelligence Chairman, Adam Schiff, who is leading the impeachment charge, has admitted that the whistle blower consulted with his office prior to filing his complaint. Some are speculating that Schiff may even have had a hand in shaping and composing the complaint.
In January 2017 Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer gleefully stated in response to then President-Elect Trump’s criticism of U.S. intelligence agencies- “Let me tell you. You take on the intelligence community – they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.” One of the rare moments of accuracy and honesty from the Democrat senator from New York.
Ironically, the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi recently quoted Benjamin Frankin’s famous warning to a woman at the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1787 who asked him if the new country was a republic or a monarchy. He replied ,”A republic, if you can keep it.” Weaponizing positions of power to overturn a duly elected president is most assuredly not the path to keep our republic.
