Throughout the four days of the Democratic National Convention, speaker after speaker spoke with scorn about life in the United States. It was frequently asserted that the United States is an inherently immoral country. Consistently repeated was the claim that systemic racism and injustice permeate every aspect of life in the U.S.; and the only cure is the ushering in of a Democratic regime with Joe Biden at the helm.
Despite the depiction of the U.S. as dark and dystopian, not a single speaker, including Joe Biden, mentioned the violence plaguing many cities throughout the nation.
Highlights of the Violence
Since May, after the tragic killing of George Floyd, numerous Democratic-run cites have been overrun with rioting/looting and violence.
A report recently released by the Council on Criminal Justice, a nonpartisan think tank, found that homicides increased by 37% in 20 large cities from late May through the end of June. Aggravated assaults also went up by 35% in 17 cities. Recent data is damning as well: Killings were up by 152% in Chicago through late July when compared to the same time frame in 2019. July was the most violent month in 28 years in Chicago.
Chicago
Just last weekend in Chicago there were nearly 30 shootings, killing three people. Riots on the street also left 17 police officers injured, one requiring hospitalization.
On Wednesday, 21 people were shot, including a critically injured 9-year-old boy and his mother. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, it was “the third time in four days that more than 20 people have been shot in the city.”
Chicago has also seen months of widespread looting. A Chicago Black Lives Matter organizer recently defended the looting as “reparations”-
“I don’t care if somebody decides to loot a Gucci’s or a Macy’s or a Nike because that makes sure that that person eats. That makes sure that that person has clothes. That’s reparations. Anything they want to take, take it..”
Got that? The left believes that If you own a business it’s perfectly fair that you have it stolen because of actions that occurred hundreds of years ago.
What is Chicago’s solution to the violence? Last month the City Council passed legislation dubbed, “Justice for Black Lives”, which calls for “redirecting” funding from policing. But, no worries. The far-left Chicago Mayor, Lori Lightfoot will be well protected. Lightfoot has ordered a heavy police presence around her home to guard her safety.
New York
To date, NYPD data shows murders increased by 30%, and shootings 89% compared to the same time last year. Areas in Manhattan that usually see little criminal activity, such as the upper east side, have also seen a significant uptick. Data indicates that gunpoint robberies have skyrocketed by 250% compared to the same time the year prior.
Incredibly, last month the New York City Council voted to slash funding for the NYPD by $1 billion. Further highlighting the city’s priorities, Mayor de Blasio directed taxpayer funds to paint “Black Lives Matter’ in front of the Trump Tower building. It’s no wonder why New Yorkers are fleeing the city in droves.
Portland
Portland has seen 87 straight days of protests, which have often turned violent. Since May 500 protests related arrests have been made.
Recent violence involved hundreds of rioters, who sprayed-painted the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office with graffiti. Rioting also took place outside a federal building that houses a police precinct, police headquarters, and a county jail. When confronted, the rioters hurled rocks, bottles, and shined laser lights, which can cause permanent blindness, at the police. The rioters held signs reading “Black Lives Matter”, “Abolish the Police”, and “Reparations”.
Last night rioters placed an American flag in a mock guillotine and set it on fire while chanting “black lives matter”.
Recently Black Lives Matter activists swarmed residential streets late in the evening chanting, “Wake up, mother f_ker, wake up!”. A video tweeted by journalist Andy Ngo shows demonstrators marching through the streets, waving Black Lives Matter flags shouting obscenities.
There has been more violence in Portland than the police can handle. Two weeks ago, 60 calls to the Portland police went unheeded.
July had the most homicides in one month in more than 30 years. July also saw more than triple the shootings from the same time last year.
The solution by the Democrat leaders running Portland- in June they cut funding for the police by nearly $16 million. The cuts shuttered programs like the Gun Violence Reduction unit, a youth services program, and ended the presence of school resource officers in many schools.
Washington D.C.
Homicides are up 45% from this time last year in Washington D.C.
Similar “protests” to those in Portland have also occurred in D.C. A few days ago Black Lives Matter activists marched through the streets late at night shouting on a megaphone-
“If we don’t get no justice, then you don’t get no sleep!”
In June, D.C. lawmakers advanced measures to cut funding to police by $15 million.
Minneapolis
Minneapolis has sustained more than $55 million in property damage from looting and building damage stemming from rioting. Further, the number of homicides in Minneapolis is up 95% from this time last year. According to Minneapolis mayor, Jacob Frey shootings are up almost 150% from the same time last year. Frey also said that response times are longer, due in part to the shrinking size of the police force.
In June, the Minneapolis City Council voted to eliminate the police department.
Seattle
As a result of months of rioting/looting, livelihoods and businesses have been destroyed. A few days ago six police officers were injured when they had explosives thrown at them while trying to stop a riot.
The Seattle City Council’s answer to the anarchy- last week they voted to begin the process of defunding the police department.
Biden/Harris
It’s clear why neither Joe Biden nor anyone at the DNC condemned the lawlessness plaguing dozens of cities throughout America- they don’t disagree with the agenda driving the radical leftists who are rioting in the streets. The Democratic party has legitimized the disdain for police and the racial hatred and unrest behind much of the violence. They have been preaching for decades that every “person of color” is a victim of oppression and systemic racism that only the strong-arm of government can rectify.
While Biden/Harris deny they want to defund the police, Biden is on record agreeing that funds should be “redirected” from police departments. Harris agrees. On a recent appearance on “The View”, she stated that there needs to be a “reimagining” of policing. She added that funding should be diverted from police to “social services”, “mental health issues”, and “job training”. Moreover, both Biden and Harris agree that black Americans deserve “reparations”, for the sin of slavery.
Further, the cities with the greatest increases in violence are run by Democrats, and it’s safe to assume that the majority of the rioters are Democrat voters. Make no mistake, a Biden/Harris administration will not unite our fractured country. Their administration will not only empower the American-hating anarchists pillaging American cities, their policies will be driven by them.
