Our nation is facing the worst border crisis in US history. Under Biden, illegal migrants have breached the southern border 4.4 million times -a record high. Yet, when recently asked by Chuck Todd if she was “confident the border is secure”, Vice President Kamala Harris replied, “We have a secure border.” She then blamed the Trump administration for “alot of problems that we are trying to fix”. Harris added, “We have to put in place a law and a plan for a path to citizenship”.
In other words, Harris is a contemptible liar, and the Biden administration does not believe millions of impoverished, unvetted migrants illegally entering our country is a problem. Seemingly, the problem, as they see it, is that illegal migrants are not automatically granted US citizenship upon arrival. White House spokesperson Karine Jean- Pierre kept to the same script, repeatedly stating that the border is secure and that they inherited a “decimated” immigration system.
The truth is Biden was handed the most secure border in decades- under Trump, illegal border crossings were at a 40-year- low. So why is our immigration system now “decimated”? On Biden’s first day as president he began dismantling every Trump-era illegal immigration enforcement policy that had effectively ended illegal immigration.
In just his first 100 days in office, Biden took more than 94 executive actions on immigration, eliminating almost every tool America has to secure the border. As a result, word got out, and record numbers of economic migrants began surging to the border disguised as asylum seekers.
In the fiscal year 2022 alone, which ends in October, there have been more migrant encounters in a single year than at any point in US history – more than two million from more than 150 countries.
Department of Homeland Security reports indicate that the Biden administration has allowed, so far, approximately 1.3 million illegal migrants and 300,000 unaccompanied children into the US.
An additional one million migrants entered the US but evaded capture, otherwise known as “got-aways”- Who are they? Where are they?- no one knows. However, it is a statistical certainty that a percentage of the millions of illegals now living in the US, courtesy of the president, are dangerous criminals.
In less than two years, Biden has added more than 2.5 million illegal immigrants to our nation’s 20 plus million illegals already living in the US. Texas Lt Governor Dan Patrick recently told Fox News that if the rate of illegal immigration under Biden continues, 10-15% of the total population of the United States will be here illegally by the end of his term.
Despite the record numbers of illegal migrants pouring over the border for more than a year and a half, other than Fox News, the media has been MIA. And there has been zero acknowledgment by anyone in the Biden administration that there is even an illegal immigration problem, never mind take steps to solve the crisis. Understandably border state governors have had enough and decided it was time to share the burden of Biden’s open border policy.
Seems reasonable to believe that cities run by and inhabited by those who overwhelmingly voted for Biden and claim to be a sanctuary for illegal immigrants would welcome illegal migrants into their cities.
After all, in 2017 DC Mayor Mariel Bowser tweeted that “immigrant communities” will “continue to find sanctuary in our city”. Apparently she has changed her mind. To date, DC has received 9,400 migrants. Bowser’s reaction – she declared a public emergency and described Governor Abbott’s action as “cruel”. Seemingly migrants are welcome, until they actually come.
Similarly self-proclaimed sanctuary city New York has received only 13,000 of the millions of migrants Biden has allowed into the country. Yet Mayor Adams, although reaffirming NYC as a sanctuary city, has also denigrated Abbott, accusing him of “inhumane” and un-American” behavior.
In a genius move Florida Governor Ron De Santis sent 50 Venezuelan migrants to the progressive enclave Martha’s Vineyard. Sadly the woke progressives did not welcome the chance to diversify their affluent island, which is 95% white. Within 48 hours, the liberal elites on the island called in the national guard and sent the migrants packing to a military base on Cape Cod.
Don’t the Vineyard residents know that illegal migrants are a “gift” and “why our society is functioning, our economy is growing”? Incredibly, those are the words of our current president- extolling those who undermine our rule of law and game our immigration system.
The millionaire residents of the island (the average home price is $1.3 million) claimed they did not have the resources to care for 50 migrants. Never mind that more than half the homes are vacant during the off-season, and the average household income is almost double the national average.
Did the media criticize the Vineyard elites or call them racists for banishing the impoverished migrants? Of course not. But those in the media, and numerous prominent Democrats, accused De Santis and Abbott of being “kidnappers” and “human traffickers”. Jean-Pierre even compared De Santis to human smugglers in Central America. The apex of the hysteria came from historian Ken Burns who on CNN drew an equivalency between providing migrants with free transportation via an air-conditioned private jet to idyllic Martha’s Vineyard and the Holocaust. Yes- liberals have officially gone insane.
Since last year the Biden administration has been stealthily transporting migrants in the dead of night throughout the country. Yet, not a peep of criticism from the mainstream media or Democrats. But, the instant overwhelmed border towns bring an infinitesimal percentage of the migrants breaching the US southern border to sanctuary cities, it is the end of time.
On a single day last weekend, from Saturday -Sunday, El Paso had 2,000 illegal migrant crossings. Approximately 5000 migrants illegally cross into Texas every single day. Blue states complaining about receiving a tiny fraction of the migrants forced onto the southern states is pathetic.
It is interesting that progressives who claim they are welcoming to illegal immigrants are expressing anger at border state Republican governors but have no critical words for the president, whose policies have caused the border crisis. Incredibly, when recently asked by Jake Tapper on CNN if [illegal immigration] is a crisis that needs more attention from the Biden administration”, NYC Mayor Adams replied, “No”.
There has also been no media coverage from the border besides Fox News’ Bill Melugin, and almost no Democratic lawmakers, besides a few from border cities, have expressed any alarm over the massive influx of illegal migrants being allowed into the US.
Also, not a word from the mainstream media or the Democrats who support the Biden administration’s open border policy about the cost of illegal immigration to US taxpayers.
Purportedly, charity groups such as United Way, Catholic Charities, and the Central American Refugee Center provide many services for illegal immigrants, such as housing, food, medical care, and legal services. Do not be fooled- these so-called charities survive with federal government contracts that award them millions of US taxpayer dollars.
Taxpayers are not only funding illegals in the US, in some cases we are even financing their way to the US, encouraging them to break our immigration laws and become financially dependent on US government handouts.
According to Todd Bensman fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, the non-profit “Organization for Migration”, funded by the State Department, handed out debit cards loaded with $800 to migrants in Mexico to aid their journey to the US.
It is also false that illegal immigrants are not eligible for welfare from the federal government. Every low-income illegal migrant that crosses into the United States with young children is entitled to WIC- the supplemental nutrition program for infants and children. Illegal immigrants are also eligible for emergency Medicaid, emergency disaster assistance, emergency housing vouchers, child tax credits, and free education services, including meal programs, for their children.
Further, if one member of an illegal immigrant family is a US citizen, the family may qualify for the food stamp program. Remember, all children born in the US to illegals are considered American citizens eligible for free housing, food, medical/dental care, and every other welfare program available to low-income US citizens. Moreover, many state and local agencies that administer welfare programs are not obligated to verify the immigration status of applicants.
It is rational to assume a nation that prioritizes the prosperity of its citizens would not knowingly add those dependent on government handouts to its citizenry. Unfortunately, no one can accuse Biden of rationality or of prioritizing American welfare over the ideological demands of his political party.
Thanks to a recent Biden administration amendment to a Trump-era public charge rule, which made it difficult for immigrants who utilize welfare to gain citizenship, an immigrant’s welfare dependency is no longer an impediment when seeking US citizenship. Biden never fails to prove that American taxpayers are just a piggybank to finance his far-left agenda.
A new analysis by the Federation for American Immigration Reform estimates that illegal migrants ushered into the US under Biden will cost US taxpayers $20.4 billion each year- amounting to almost $10,000 yearly per immigrant, in addition to the $140 billion that illegal immigrants cost the US yearly.
An analysis by the Center for Immigration Studies concluded that “the lifetime cost to US taxpayers of an illegal border crosser is $75,000- that’s services used minus taxes paid [by illegal immigrant]”.
During the presidential campaign, Biden’s political opponents warned that a Biden administration would implement open borders. Well, here we are. Our nation’s borders have never been more porous than they are now.
The obvious ramifications of non-existent border enforcement are national security and financial concerns. But, what does this massive influx of illegal migrants mean for the long-term stability of our already fractured nation?
It will take years to know the full consequences of Biden’s reckless failure to fulfill his most basic duties- to protect our nation’s sovereignty and secure the border.
The best case scenario is that the GOP takes back Congress and mitigates the damage. November can not come soon enough.
