The hypocrisy and bias of the media is once again on full display, as evidenced by their reaction to the back-to- back tragedies that have recently taken place in our country. Before the identity of the madman who sent pipe bombs to numerous prominent Democrats was even known, the media blamed Trump’s rhetoric for inspiring him.
Yes- Trump is not the typical focused- group politician, and occasionally says or tweets statements that some find offensive. However, the accusation that Trump encouraged this violence is just another example of how the media doesn’t just present important stories and events, they insert their own opinions into the news they report.
In their criticism of Trump’s rhetoric, what the media leaves out of the narrative is the fact that Trump’s occasional insulting words are almost always in response to attacks, or accusations by the Never -Trump portion of our country and the media.
It’s indisputable that the many that were horrified when Trump defeated Clinton decided on election night that they would never give his presidency a chance. They even protested his inauguration, and dubbed themselves ‘the Resistance”. During World War II those who opposed Adolph Hitler also called themselves members of the Resistance. The “Resistance’ is so unhinged that they often compare Trump to Hitler. Hitler- the man who was responsible for killing 6 million people.
Tune in to any national news or current events show on CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, even the Comedy Channel, at anytime of day and you will hear “Resistance” rhetoric claiming that Trump is an incompetent, misogynist, xenophobic, racist, fascist, sociopathic hate-filled man. Not to mention the eye-rolls and sighs that can often be seen and heard by reporters, and pundits as they are speaking about Trump.
Editorialized commentary is spoken by political pundits, as well as mainstream news anchors. At a political conference hosted by CNN last week CNN news anchor Jim Acosta stated that “Trump has normalized and sanitized nastiness and cruelty.” Jim Acosta has also recently stated that “Americans are wondering if President Trump is secretly a white nationalist”. He claimed that Trump was “dog-whistling” to his base. Accusing Trump of “dog whistling” covert racist statements to his supporters is a favorite accusation often made by those in the media. Apparently this is a whistle that only Trump- haters can hear.
Jake Tapper, an anchor on CNN, while reporting on Trump’s response to the caravan of migrants intending to storm our border, recently accused Trump of “dehumanizing immigrants and embracing the politics of fear and division.”
On a daily basis the hosts and panelists, on the “Morning Joe” show on MSNBC, hosted by by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, spend the entire show lamenting that our country is run by a crazed, immoral, evil person. Both Mika and Joe frequently say that Trump is a racist, incompetent man, whom they often compare to Hitler, who should be removed from office because he is mentally and morally impaired.
This past summer a frequent guest on the “Morning Joe” show Donny Deutsch actually extended his hatred for Trump to Trump’s supporters comparing people who voted for Trump to Nazi’s.
“If you vote for Trump, then you, the voter, you, not Donald Trump, are standing at the border, like Nazis going you here, you here.” – Donny Deutsch June 2018. He added that the “evilness of Donald Trump” was “a given”, and that the Trump supporter cannot separate themselves .
Nicole Wallace, the host of an hourly show on MSNBC makes her disgust towards Trump evident throughout her entire show. She, like many others in the media, believes that Trump is an awful human being. So, awful that she actually wondered out loud on her show if the female members of Trump’s family “were dead inside”. She just couldn’t fathom how any woman could love and be loyal to him.
Incredibly Trump has been accused of being worse than ISIS. A recent commentator on CNN, Julia Loffe, a GQ columnist appearing on CNN actually said that due to “the way he talks” that Trump “has radicalized so many more people than ISIS ever did”. The anchor, Don Lemon offered zero push back on this heinous and nonsensical claim.
Don Lemon denigrates Trump almost nightly. He frequently accuses Trump of being an immoral racist. He has also put much of the onus for the recent violence on Trump. After the horrific shooting in a Pittsburgh synagogue, which left eleven dead, Lemon actually stated, that a Trump inspired “right winger” was responsible for the shooting, and “I don’t see Democrats killing people.”
Due to the partisan prism with which he views the world, Lemon attributes no blame for the heated tone on the left that precipitated the attempted massacre of Republicans, by a far- left Bernie Sanders supporter last year, which left GOP Congressman Steve Scalise near death. However, according to Lemon, the pipe bombs and anti-Semitic shooting were entirely inspired by Trump. Never mind that the shooter actually hated and disagreed with Trump’s policies.
In addition to the hate-filled anti-Trump rhetoric found on network TV, there is no shortage of negative Trump coverage in many prominent newspapers.
In October 2016, a month before the election, the Washington Post ran an outrageous article entitled, “How fascist is Donald Trump”. The author concluded that Trump was only “semi-fascist”, (he lost points for not killing his enemies). However, the writer concluded that Trump was “more fascist than any successful American politician yet, and the most dangerous threat to pluralist democracy in this country in more than a century.” Yes- this was written in a mainstream respected newspaper before Trump was even elected president.
Incredibly, just recently the New York Times actually published a short fictionalize story depicting the assassination of President Trump by his Secret Service. It is unfathomable that the New York Times would ever have printed such a piece about Barack Obama.
It is unquestionable that the majority of the media displays complete disdain for Trump on a daily basis. Everything he says is interpreted to have the most nefarious meaning.
Ironically, even Trump’s comment criticizing the media was reported incorrectly. It was reported that Trump stated that the media was the enemy of the people. What he actually said was that the Fake News media was the enemy of the people.
Further evidence of the media’s bias, is their blindness to the incivility and violence perpetrated by those on the left against the right.
In just the month of October:
- Hillary Clinton stated that Democrats should not be civil to Republicans until Democrats win back power.
- Former Attorney General Eric Holder stated that when republicans go low “we kick ‘em”
- GOP congressman Andy Harris had his office door pushed open and was assaulted by protesters
- Ricin and threatening letters were sent to President Trump, pentagon leaders, the FBI director, Senator Ted Cruz
- During the Kavanaugh hearings Senator Susan Collins had to be assigned capital police protection because of threats that she received from ant -Kavanaugh protesters.
- Senator Chuck Grassley also received death threats during the Kavanaugh confirmation process.
- Senator Mitch McConnell and his wife US Secretary of Transportation Elaine Cho were recently accosted by protesters and chased out of a restaurant.
- A Democratic operative, who works for a left-wing group funded by George Soros was arrested for battery against the female campaign manager of Nevada GOP candidate for governor.
- The owner of a Tennessee restaurant’s life was threatened because he rented out his event room to GOP Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn.
- Members of Antifa vandalized the Metropolitan Republican Club, and assaulted a group of Republicans outside of the club.
- A truck with a Trump 2020 bumper sticker left overnight at a bar was set on fire.
- Former National security Advisor Susan Rice’s son, who is a Republican, was assaulted at a pro- Kavanaugh event
The Fourth Estate, whom Americans rely on for neutral presentation of the facts has their hand on the scale like never before. The bias by the media and vitriol directed at President Trump by “journalists”, political pundits and Trump’s detractors is truly unprecedented. It’s not just fake news that’s the enemy of the people it’s also those in the Democrat party and others that sow division and hatred, and want nothing more than to destroy Trump’s presidency.
