Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was elected to replace Nancy Pelosi as the new house Democratic leader. His background makes it clear why he has risen to a leadership position within his party.
First off, he is not white, which is a significant plus among those on the left. Jeffries is also all in on the fake news propaganda spewed by many in his party. On multiple occasions Jeffries outspokenly claimed then-President Trump was an illegitimate president, and declared that the 2016 election was “in doubt”.
A few Highlights from the election denier Hakeem Jeffries
Publicly accusing Trump of colluding with Russia, in March 2017, Jeffries co-sponsored a bill calling for Trump and his then-attorney general, Jeff Sessions, to submit any documents connecting the Trump campaign to Russia. Although Republicans blocked the measure, Jeffries accusations helped to fuel the false Trump- Russian collusion narrative.
Jeffries even questioned whether Trump engaged in treason. “Treason is not a laughing matter, Jeffries said during a speech on the House floor in 2018. He then questioned whether it was treason for a presidential campaign to “meet with a hostile foreign power to sell out our democracy and rig the election”.
The lies spewed by Jeffries and the Democratic party smeared President Trump on the world stage and diverted the president’s time and taxpayer resources. As we all know, years-long investigations found zero evidence of Russian collusion.
Like most on the left, Jeffries sees racism everywhere
When President Trump criticized the “squad” (far-left lunatics- Reps Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley), Jeffries accused him of being…wait for it, a racist.
If any lawmaker opposed a controversial Biden nominee of color, there could only be one reason- racism.
No surprise, Jeffries believes that any election law changes made by Republicans to ensure election integrity is voter suppression. Of course only a non-racist believes that minorities are incapable of obtaining ID and will be barred from voting unless they have a months-long window and a drop box in front of their house to mail their ballot.
It will be a nice reprieve to see and hear from Nancy Pelosi far less as she takes a back seat in her party. However, hopes that her replacement would be less partisan and work to dial down the explosive tension between the left and right in our nation can be abandoned with the election of noxiously partisan Hakeem Jeffries.
