If Joe Biden wins in November, he will be the most far-left president in modern times- The Democratic Party will insist upon it.
Many consider Biden to hold a center-left ideology. During his almost 40 years in the Senate, Biden supported legislation that was in lock-step with the mainstream Democratic Party at the time. However, the Democratic Party of today bears no resemblance to the Party just a few years go. It seemingly moves further to the left by the day and drags the enervated Biden leftward with them.
Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-D) was asked in January what role she might play if Biden became president. Her answer, “Oh God, In any other country, Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party, but in America, we are.”
Fast forward to a few months later. In May, Ocasio-Cortez and numerous other far-leftists were appointed to a task force charged with helping to formulate a platform for Biden’s presidential campaign. Ocasio-Cortez co-led the climate task force panel. On Wednesday she tweeted out her excitement about how they “meaningfully & substantially improved Biden’s position.”
According to Ocasio-Cortez, “among the notable gains: we shaved *15 years* off of Biden’s previous target for 100% clean energy.” (Biden’s original proposal called for eliminating carbon emissions from power plants by 2050, the goal is now by 2035.) Also in Biden’s refurbished climate agenda, is a plan for an “environmental justice fund”- also known as a vehicle to redistribute wealth.
Although Ocasio-Cortez, who supported Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders during the presidential primaries, has not formally endorsed Biden, she is a vocal Biden proponent and supports his presidential election. There is a reason for this. Ocasio-Cortez knows that a Biden administration will consist of those who were once considered the radical-left, but are now embraced by the mainstream Democratic Party; and they will control the agenda.
Just last year it would have been unimaginable for prominent Democratic lawmakers to support the defunding of the police. Times have changed. Rashida Tlaib (D-M) and Ayanna Pressley (D-) have announced they are co-sponsoring the Breathe Act. This bill proposes to slash federal funds to local police, end gang databases, extend voting rights and “lifetime education” to all illegal immigrants and incarcerated criminals, eliminate the Drug Enforcement Administration, eliminate Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and incentivize states to shut down jails.
Although Ocasio-Cortez is not a sponsor of the Breathe Act, she too is a proponent of defunding the police. When The NYC Council announced last week that they were slashing the NYPD budget by $1 billion, Ocasio-Cortez expressed her dismay that the cuts would not defund the police. In a statement shortly after the Council voted for the NYPD budget cut, she wrote, “Defunding the police, means defunding the police. It does not mean budget tricks or funny math.”
A month ago Biden declared that he did not support defunding the police. However, in a recent interview, he stated that the police have “become the enemy.” When asked if funding should be redirected from police, Biden answered, “Yes, absolutely.”
The Breathe Act also has two reparation elements. It includes Sheila Jackson-Lee’s (D-TX) bill which proposes the establishment of a commission to study reparations for African Americans. A separate reparation program in the bill establishes “commissions that design reparations for mass criminalization..”
If this bill was enacted into law every black American and every person who has had an encounter with law enforcement could receive remuneration, simply because they are black and/or have an arrest record. It has been estimated that reparations for slavery could cost U.S. taxpayers more than $14 trillion.
The Breathe Act has no chance of being enacted into law with Trump as president and a Republican-controlled Senate. However, if Biden wins the presidency and Democrats keep control of the House and win back the Senate-all bets are off. Anything is possible.
The Obama/Biden administration did not support reparations for African- Americans; nor did freshman Senator Biden, who in the 1970s expressed why:
“I don’t feel responsible for the sins of my father and grandfather. I feel responsible for what the situation is today, for the sins of my own generation, and ill be damned if I feel responsible to pay for what happened 300 years ago.” Amen!
However, today’s Joe Biden is unrecognizable from the senator he was in the 70s and holds more extreme positions from when he was vice president under Obama. Not only does Biden support Sheila Jackson Lee’s reparations bill, he believes it should be extended to include Native Americans.
Last week during Biden’s first news conference in three months he refused to condemn the violent “protesters” who destroyed and defaced monuments of historical American figures. When specifically asked, Biden only stated that he distinguishes between tearing down Confederate statues and toppling a monument to Thomas Jefferson and George Washington.
Biden never stated that those destroying American history should be prosecuted. He did however express empathy with them stating that he “can understand the anger and anguish that people feel.”
So much for the distinction between Confederate monuments and memorials to our founding fathers. Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth, who is reportedly in the running to be Biden’s pick for his vice president, recently said that she would be willing to “listen to” those who believe that government monuments to George Washington should be removed.
Biden has also praised “Black Lives Matter”, the organization behind much of the rioting/protesting, and monument destruction in our country. In an op-ed Biden wrote that BLM helped “to expand the scope, strength, and meaning of American democracy.” However, BLM is not just a group of activists working to achieve equality, and to end police brutality, as claimed by the mainstream media. The BLM founders are self-described Marxists who despise our capitalist system and traditional American values.
Hawk Newsome, a founder of the New York chapter of BLM recently stated that if the U.S. “doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system.”
Some of the objectives of the BLM movement, according to their website include: “dismantle cisgender privilege”, “dismantle the patriarchal practice”, “disrupt the western-prescribed nuclear family structure”.
Recently Biden tweeted-
“We’re going to beat Donald Trump. And when we do, we won’t just rebuild this nation- we’ll transform it.”
This tweet speaks volumes.
There’s a reason why Bernie Sanders, the most far-left lawmaker in the Senate has endorsed Biden. On a recent appearance on MSNBC Sanders stated that if elected, Biden will be the “most progressive president since FDR.”
Undoubtedly, if elected, an enfeebled Biden would be controlled and beholden to those who believe America is an unjust country built upon a foundation of systemic racism and oppression. Electing Biden is synonymous with handing our country over to those who despise the values upon which has made the U.S. the richest most powerful country in the world. Indeed- a Biden presidency will transform our great country.
