It only took four years, but the Durham report is finally here. No surprise, confirming what every conservative already knew, the FBI had zero evidence of Russian collusion when they opened an investigation into the Trump campaign.
The Opening of Crossfire Hurricane
“Indeed based on the evidence gathered in the multiple exhaustive and costly federal investigations of these matters, including the instant investigation, neither US law enforcement nor the intelligence community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of Crossfire hurricane investigation” – the Durham Report
The only purported “evidence” the Obama-Biden FBI had to open an investigation into the opposition party’s presidential campaign was a cable from Australia regarding a meeting George Papadopoulos, an unpaid Trump campaign aide, had in a London bar with two Australian diplomats.
The earth-shattering news Papadopoulos revealed at the meeting- the Russians may have unflattering information on Hillary Clinton that the campaign could disclose to harm her. The intelligence said nothing about Hillary Clinton’s emails or the hacking of the DNC server.
Australian High Commissioner Alexander Downer, one of the diplomats at the meeting cited in the cable, stated in an interview with Durham’s office that Papadopoulos never claimed that the Russian government approached the Trump campaign with an offer of assisting them in releasing dirt on Clinton. Papadopoulos only said he believed ‘the Russians have information’.
The Russian hacking of the DNC emails story broke the week before Papadopoulos met with the Australian diplomats- everyone believed Russia had damaging information on Clinton.
Based on this vague hearsay information, without interviewing Downer or any other witnesses, including Papapdopolous, only three days after receiving the cable, the FBI opened a full investigation into the Trump campaign. Durham’s office found that the FBI did not even review its databases, which would have shown their own Russian analysts had no information about Trump’s involvement with Russian leadership.
However, the truth is not what the FBI was after. They were after Trump. And the Australian intelligence gave them an opening to infiltrate the Trump campaign and dig for any possible dirt in their desperate attempt to stop him from becoming president.
Recall the text exchanges between Peter Strzok, the FBI agent who opened Crossfire Hurricane, and FBI agent Lisa Page, in which the two referred to Trump as “loathsome”, an “idiot”, someone who should lose to Clinton “100,000,000 – 0”, and a person who Strzok wrote that Trump will never be president because “We’ll Stop” him.
Further proof that the cable was just a pretext and not a legitimate factor in opening an investigation into the Trump campaign, according to Durham, the day BEFORE the FBI received the Australian cable, FBI agent Page, referencing an article about Trump, texted Strzok, “have we opened on him yet?”
Spying on the Trump Campaign
Remember when they called those who said Obama’s FBI spied on the Trump campaign conspiracy theorists?
Well, within only days of opening Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI began spying on four members of the Trump campaign- George Papadopoulos, Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, and Carter Page. The investigations included the use of confidential human informants and electronic surveillance.
As if that were not bad enough, the FBI presented Clinton’s campaign opposition research, also known as the Steele dossier, as “evidence” to the FISA court to obtain the surveillance warrants. Incredibly, the FBI never informed the court Trump’s political rival supplied their purported evidence.
Despite using the Steele dossier as evidence to spy on the Trump campaign, Durham reports that:
“Crossfire Hurricane investigators did not and could not corroborate any of the substantive allegations contained in the Steele reporting.”
The FBI was so desperate for Steele to verify his reported allegations they offered him $1 million, yet he still could not.
Incredibly, there is also email evidence to support that DNC operative and Clinton surrogate Charles Dolan provided some of the false allegations in the dossier. The FBI never interviewed him.
Exculpatory Information Ignored
Numerous statements made by Page and Papadopolous to confidential human sources were exculpatory. But the Crossfire Hurricane investigators failed to make this known to the Department attorneys or the FISA court.
FBI agent Kevin Clinesmith even went so far as to falsify an email in one of the Carter Page warrant applications to negate its true exculpatory meaning. Even though found guilty, Clinesmith did not spend a day in jail, receiving only community service hours as punishment.
Discrepant Treatment between Trump and Clinton
Underscoring an FBI partisan bias, no defensive briefing was ever given to Trump or anyone in the campaign concerning the intelligence received from Australia, as would be standard practice. But the Clinton campaign received a defensive briefing about a similar threat regarding a foreign government trying to influence her campaign.
The FBI’s bias was not only restricted to bringing down Trump they also took measures advantageous to Clinton’s campaign. Durham revealed that the FBI had four open investigations into Hillary and Bill Clinton that they shut down in the months leading up to the 2016 election.
Three investigations involved allegations that the Clinton Foundation was a hub of “criminal activity”. Namely, allowing foreign countries to influence US policy through donations to the charity.
The fourth investigation regarded an alleged plan by a foreign government to contribute to Clinton’s campaign “as a way to gain influence with Clinton should she win the presidency”.
They all knew Clinton was behind the Russian Collusion Narrative
In case you still believe that the Obama administration and US intelligence were unaware that the Clinton campaign was behind the Trump-Russian collusion lie. The Durham report puts that idea to rest.
Around the same times as the opening of Crossfire Hurricane, US intelligence obtained insight indicating that then-candidate Hillary Clinton had approved a campaign plan to stir up a scandal against US presidential candidate Donald Trump by smearing him as a Russian agent.
Within days of receiving this information, then-CIA Director John Brennan briefed President Obama, Vice President Biden, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, FBI Director James Comey, and other senior administration officials on the “Clinton Plan”. Durham’s report includes Brennan’s handwritten notes reflecting that he briefed the meeting’s participants regarding the
“alleged approval by Hillary Clinton on 26 July of a proposal from one of her [campaign] advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by the Russian security services”.
In other words, Obama, Biden, Comey, Lynch, Brennan, etc, all knew that the Clinton campaign was behind the false Trump-Russian collusion narrative. Yet, never mind thwarting her efforts, they weaponized their positions of power, doubling down on her false narrative to effect a presidential outcome and subsequently overturn a presidency.
Unfortunately, the US media was complicit in promoting the Trump-Russian collusion hoax, so reporting honestly about the Durham report does not serve their best interest. Contrary to the mainstream media’s dismissal of the Durham report, the investigation into the Russia hoax uncovered the dirtiest political scandal in US history.
