After two and a half years of a Special Counsel investigation conducted by US Attorney John Durham into the origins of the Trump-Russia collusion probe, it appears that justice may finally be forthcoming. Last week Durham announced that a grand jury indicted a top lawyer with ties to both the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton for lying to the FBI.
The 27-page indictment provides damning details into how Hillary Clinton’s campaign schemed with the help of the FBI and the media to concoct the false Russian collusion narrative that dogged Trump’s entire presidency.
On September 19, 2016, less than two months before the presidential election, attorney Michael Sussmann met with then-FBI General Counsel, James Baker, to pass along allegations claiming the existence of a secret communication channel between Russia’s Alfa Bank and the Trump Organization.
Consequently, an FBI investigation was opened, which concluded there was no evidence to support the allegations. However, not before the investigation was leaked to the media, and numerous media outlets, just a week before the election, published the damning allegations, painting candidate Trump as a Russian agent.
According to the Durham indictment, Sussmann led the FBI to believe that he “was acting as a good citizen merely passing along information, not as a paid advocate or political operative.” This was a lie.
Despite Sussmann denying that he was acting “for any client” in forwarding the allegations, the special counsel uncovered billing by Sussmann to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign for the September 19th meeting and other related work. Billing and uncovered emails indicate that Sussmann played a pivotal role in concocting and propagating the false tale he relayed to the FBI.
The indictment explains that Sussmann also worked for an unidentified cyber expert (Tech Executive -1). Tech executive-1 owned multiple internet companies, which gave him access to nonpublic classified data, which he exploited to help Sussmann look for damaging information on then-candidate Trump.
It appears that Tech Executive-1 was motivated in part because, as he claimed in an email, the Clinton camp offered him a high-level cybersecurity job if Clinton won the election. He also appeared to hold a bias against Trump, as indicated in the same email where he stated that ”I definitely would not take the job if Trump won.”
Tech Executive-1 enlisted employees and university researchers to help dig for damaging information on Trump. In an email, he explained their task was “to provide evidence of anything that shows an attempt to behave badly [Trump] in relation to this the VIP’s would be very happy”.
However, even the Tech Executive did not believe that Trump had a secret communication channel with the Russian bank, expressing in an email that it was just a “red herring” that should be “ignored”. Evidence indicates his researchers also doubted the Russian bank allegations.
Sussmann and his “researchers” knew the allegations were false but did not care because they were aware that the FBI investigation would provide a patina of credibility, allowing the allegations to reach the public through leaks to the media.
Consequently, despite their disbelief, the Tech Executive and the Researchers, along with Sussmann, drafted a “white paper” summarizing the allegations, which Sussmann later provided to the FBI. Hillary Clinton’s “campaign lawyer”, (most likely Marc Elias), was also included in many of the emails and meetings in which they discussed and concocted the false allegations. Sussmann billed the Clinton campaign for all of this work.
Jake Sullivan, President Biden’s current National Security Advisor, and Hillary Clinton’s foreign policy advisor during the presidential campaign, is also mentioned in the indictment. Four days before Sussmann gave his dubious material to the FBI, Sullivan exchanged emails with Clinton attorney Marc Elias “concerning the Russian bank allegations.”
A week before the election, Sullivan released a written campaign statement claiming that Trump had set up a “secret line of communication with Russia”. He added, “This could be the most direct link yet between Donald Trump and Moscow”.
Was Sullivan actually duped by the bogus “evidence”? If he was, this helps to explain Biden’s disastrous foreign policy decisions made throughout his presidency. Or did Sullivan know, like Sussmann and the others, that their claims were false?
Hillary Clinton tweeted Sullivan’s statement. How integral a role did Clinton have in the corrupt plot to destroy her political opponent?
The Steele Dossier Connection
The connection between Sussmann, Hillary Clinton, and the false Russian collusion narrative does not end there. Sussmann was a cybersecurity lawyer at Perkins Coie. Perkins Coie represented the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. A partner at the firm, Marc Elias was Hillary Clinton’s campaign General Counsel.
Through Perkins Coie Clinton’s campaign funded the research firm Fusion GPS to conduct oppositional research on candidate Trump. In turn, Fusion GPS hired former British Intelligence officer Michael Steele who produced the infamous Steele dossier.
Clinton’s presidential campaign not only funded Steele’s research, but Sussmann, her campaign attorney, even provided some of the fictitious allegations contained in the farcical dossier.
In a British court, Steele testified that in late July 2016 Sussmann provided him with claims about Alfa Bank’s purported ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Trump Organization. Steele told Alfa Bank’s lawyers, “I’m very clear, is that the first person that ever mentioned the Trump server issue, Alfa server issue, was Mr. Sussmann.”
Throughout the summer of 2016 Steele also provided a receptive FBI with his dubious Russian collusion research. In October 2016 he was formally hired as a Confidential Human Source for an undisclosed sum. Yes- the FBI hired a foreign national to effectively provide them with opposition research on a presidential campaign.
Incredibly the FBI used the Clinton-funded Steele dossier to justify investigating Trump for Russian collusion, including spying on campaign aides.
In 2019 Justice department inspector general Michael Horowitz determined that the Steele dossier played a “central” role in obtaining the FISA warrant to spy on Trump campaign aide Carter Page.
This warrant enabled the FBI to look at all of Page’s communications, past and present, effectively giving them access to spy on the entire campaign, including then-candidate Trump. And do not forget that an FBI lawyer intentionally lied about critical information on one of the warrants submitted to the FISA court to surveil Page.
Steele and his dossier also played a significant role in promoting the Trump- Russian collusion narrative to a compliant media. Steele has admitted that beginning in September 2016 he briefed numerous media outlets on his Trump -Russia collusion research.
In September 2016, Michael Isikoff of Yahoo News reported that US intelligence was probing the connection to then-Trump aide Carter Page and the Russian government. Isikoff has subsequently acknowledged that his source was Michael Steele. Unbelievably, in their application to spy on Page, the FBI told the FISA court that Isikoff’s article constituted independent evidence to support the Steele dossier.
Soon after this article appeared Clinton’s surrogates, including her communication director Jennifer Palmieri cited it during television appearances as proof that Trump was an agent of Russia.
Many other similar articles appeared in the months before the election, including an October 2016 Mother Jones article entitled “A veteran spy has given the FBI information alleging a Russian operation to Cultivate Donald Trump .”
In the weeks before the election, and during almost the entirety of Trump’s presidency every mainstream news outlet unrelentingly accused Trump of being an agent of Russia.
The Sussmann indictment confirms what many have been saying for over four years- the Russian collusion narrative was invented and propagated by a corrupt Hillary Clinton, with the help of a complicit FBI and media, to take down her political opponent.
Despite the bombshell revelations in this indictment, the mainstream media has ignored the story because it exposes their bias and complicity in the attempt to destroy Donald Trump’s candidacy and presidency.
Durhams’ final report will no doubt expose more wrongdoing. Hopefully, there will be more indictments to follow. The media can only ignore this story for so long. Finally, justice is on the horizon.
