The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence released their heavily redacted 253-page report on their investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election this past Friday, April 27. The most salient finding was that there was no evidence of meetings between President Trump or any of his associates that “reflected collusion, coordination, or conspiracy with the Russian government”.

The Russia probe conducted by Special prosecutor Robert Mueller has taken a disturbing turn. Upon discovering information considered outside of the scope of his investigation Mueller referred the matter to the Justice Department and the U.S. attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY). Under the orders of the SDNY the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted a no- knock raid of President Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen’s office, home, hotel room, safe deposit box and electronic devices last week. Prosecutors have already covertly searched Cohen’s email accounts. This was a shocking move especially since Cohen was reportedly cooperating with the investigation.

Investigations into alleged collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign have been ongoing for almost two years now. Incredibly, there are still questions regarding the evidence that precipitated the commencement of the initial investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which began in July 2016. Shamefully the FBI and DOJ have been stonewalling Republicans requests for documents, thwarting their attempts to conduct an independent evaluation.

Could the Parkland massacre have been averted? Upon visiting the facts and circumstances leading up to the killings it sure looks like it could have. Since 2010 records show that authorities were called at least 45 times for reasons related to the killer, Nikolas Cruz, or his brother. Cruz reportedly posted a video on YouTube last year, under his own name, in which he stated that he wished to be “a professional school shooter”. This video was reported to the FBI, but inexplicably the agency couldn’t determine an identity. In 2016 a neighbor reported to the sheriffs office of an Instagram post in which Cruz expressed that “he planned to shoot up the school”. Additionally, in January of this year, a woman close to Cruz called the FBI informing them that Cruz had an arsenal of knives and guns and was “going to explode”, and she feared him “getting into a school and just shooting the place up”. Unbelievably, the FBI has admitted that they took no action on this tip, and closed the case in an hour.

The heavily redacted Democrat response to the GOP memo, which laid out the case that the FBI relied upon the unverified Christopher Steele opposition research report to obtain a FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) warrant against former campaign aide, Carter Page, has been made public. Contrary to Adam Schiff, the leading Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, the memo does not rebut all of the claims in the Republican memo. In fact, in many cases by commission or omission, it actually confirms the GOP assertions.

Bad news for the MSNBC/ Never Trump crowd, the recently released 37- page indictment of 13 Russian nationals and 3 Russian entities charged with interfering in the 2016 presidential election does not implicate Trump or anyone associated with his campaign. The FBI began the Russian- Trump collusion probe in July 2016, (coincidentally, around the same time that Trump became the official GOP nominee, and just weeks after the FBI received the dubious Christopher Steele dossier), and still zero evidence that anyone involved with Trump worked with the Russians to tilt the campaign in his favor.

A recently released redacted memorandum, written by Republican Senators Charles Grassley and Lindsay Graham, to the Department of Justice, corroborates and expands on the assertions in the Republican memo, outlining FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) abuse, in the applications to surveil then Trump associate Carter Page, written by Congressman Devin Nunes, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. In the Grassley/Graham memo, the senators make a case for a criminal investigation into Christopher Steele, the author of the infamous Trump dossier.
