On Wednesday, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh came close to being assassinated. Armed with a knife, a pistol, pepper spray, zip ties, duct tape, and other items, Nicholas John Roske, 26, admitted that he traveled from California to Kavanaugh’s Maryland home to kill him.
Roske, charged with attempted murder, claimed that he was upset about the Texas Uvalde shooting and the leaked draft of a Supreme Court opinion suggesting the reversal of Roe vs Wade.
Roske appears to have found Kavanaugh’s address online. Making it easier to locate the justices’ homes the radical abortion activist group “Ruth Sent Us” posted a map on their website pointing out the addresses of the six “conservative” judges.
Although Ruth Sent Us denies promoting violence and having anything to do with Roske, they and other activists have organized and participated in numerous protests at Kavanaugh’s and the homes of the other five conservative justices.
Incredibly, just hours after the disclosure of the assassination plot, the group was once again outside Kavanaugh’s house banging a drum and screaming chants of protests against ending abortion. According to the Ruth Sent Us Twitter account, they have protests planned at the homes of all six conservative-leaning justices. Reprehensibly, they even have planned ongoing demonstrations at Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s church and her children’s school, disclosing both locations on Twitter.
Confirming they have no intention of backing off harassing the justices, on Twitter they mockingly offered “thoughts and prayers to Brett and Ashley Kavanaugh” and referred to Kavanaugh as an “abusive alcoholic” and “white supremacist”.
Unfortunately, activist groups are not the only ones who have created a hostile environment for Supreme Court justices, Democratic lawmakers have as well.
Two years ago, on the steps of the Supreme Court, Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer publicly threatened Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch.
“I want to tell you, Gorsuch; I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decsisions.”
Hillary Clinton and Vice President Harris also dialed up the heat when they both hyperbolically claimed that overturning Roe vs Wade would mean death for women.
On May 2 Clinton tweeted that the decision “will kill and subjugate women.”
Not surprising. But still outrageous.

Last December Harris warned that “women will die” if Roe vs Wade is overturned.
After the leak of the SCOTUS draft opinion, Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot tweeted:
To my friends in the LGBTQ+ community—the Supreme Court is coming for us next. This moment has to be a call to arms.

Both Harris and Biden also falsely claimed that reversing Roe vs Wade would lead to the loss of rights for gay people. Outrageously Biden even claimed that contraception was in danger of being outlawed.
A functioning democracy requires an independent judiciary, free to make rulings, not coerced through intimidation. If Biden and Harris prioritized the welfare of our nation over their political agenda, they would have denounced the harassment of Supreme Court justices and the attempts to coerce them to change their decision.
Even after the assassination attempt, Biden has refused to condemn the protesters or even discourage them from traveling to the justice’s home. A few weeks ago, Biden’s then-Press Secretary, Jen Psaki defended the protests stating that they “have been peaceful to date”. She added-
“And we certainly continue to encourage that outside of judges’ homes and that’s the president’s position.”
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Biden declared that if Roe vs Wade is reversed and states impose limitations on abortion, there will be a “mini revolution”. Biden never mentioned the foiled assassination attempt.
Even if Biden does not care about the ethics of intimidating the judiciary to achieve his desired outcome, the President of the United States should care about upholding the rule of law.
Just because a protest is peaceful that does not make it legal. One section of federal law –18 U.S.C. 1507 states that “interfering with obstructing or impeding the administration of justices, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer” and pickets or parades in or near court building or residence “occupied or used by such judge, jury, witness or court officer” will face a fine or imprisonment of one year.
Curiously, Attorney General Merrick Garland has refused to condemn or prosecute any of the unlawful protesters. Recall that Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice wasted no time opening an investigation into parents protesting at school board meetings. Seemingly parents who oppose critical race theory are more of a threat to our democracy than protesters attempting to reverse a judicial decision.
Not surprisingly, the mainstream media has barely covered the near assassination of Justice Kavanaugh. The New York Times printed the story on page 20. The Washington Post did include the story on its front page, but under the headline “Man arrested near Justice’s home”. Further, not one among the legacy media has called out those who made incendiary and possibly inciteful comments.
If one of the liberal justices had their life threatened by a conservative Trump supporter, no one can doubt that the media coverage and reaction from the Biden administration would have been very different.
It is hard not to conclude that Biden and his fellow Democrats want the Supreme Court justices to feel intimidated and afraid to rule against their wishes.
