The New York Times should change its slogan from “All The News That’s Fit To Print” to “All the News We Choose to Print”. More than 17 months after the New York Post broke the Hunter Biden laptop story, although buried in the 24th paragraph, the NY Times has finally acknowledged that the laptop and emails it contains are authentic.
Published weeks before the 2020 presidential election, nearly all among the media and big tech either blocked, refused to cover, or “fact-checked” the Post reporting as false. Twitter even went so far as to disable the New York Post account and suspended accounts that retweeted the story.
Never mind that none in the mainstream media had issues publishing every unfounded accusation against then-President Trump. Why did Twitter allow Trump’s tax returns to be shared, which could have been hacked material?
From the 2016 campaign throughout Trump’s presidency, our country was bombarded with lies about Trump-Russia collusion.
Recall the now-completely debunked Steele dossier, commissioned and paid for by the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign, was published in its entirety shortly after Trump’s election. Even though unverified, multiple news outlets breathlessly covered the dossier, giving it legitimacy, tarring Trump’s presidency from day one. No doubt – the intention.
We now know that Russian collusion was a ploy concocted by Hillary Clinton’s campaign. However, we only know this because then-Attorney General Bill Barr appointed Special Counsel, John Durham, to investigate the origins of the Russian collusion narrative.
Disturbingly, the media and those in top-level positions in our intelligence agencies had zero curiosity in unearthing any information that would not impugn Trump, never mind was beneficial.
Fast forward to weeks before the 2020 election. The Post’s reporting revealed damning information on the Biden family, and those in power used their position to discredit/block the American people from accessing the story.
Not only did the press and politicians attempt to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop story, but so did 51 former US intelligence officials. Former CIA Director Mike Hayden, former Director of National Intelligence Jim Clapper, and former CIA Director John Brennan are among those who signed off on a public letter declaring the Hunter Biden laptop story “deeply suspicious” and possessing “all the classic earmarks” of Russian disinformation.
Another telling testament to the bias in our media, all of the above-mentioned former intelligence officials are now analysts at either CNN, NBC, or MSNBC. Many have also been vociferously outspoken in their hatred of Donald Trump.
None of these former officials have expressed any public regret for woefully misleading the American public at such a pivotal time. Undoubtedly that was the objective. As intended, the letter granted news outlets throughout the nation license to ignore the story or dismiss it as Russian disinformation.
Ironically, the letter labeling the Post reporting disinformation was politically motivated disinformation.
Right on cue, major news outlets throughout the nation referenced the letter to discredit the Post’s reporting. A headline in Politico read, “Hunter Biden story is Russian disinformation, dozens of former intel officials say”.
Immediately after the letter was released, the Director of National Intelligence and the FBI (which had possession of the laptop) refuted the claim that it was Russian disinformation. Being fact-checked by US intelligence made no difference. The media continued to parrot the Russian disinformation lie.
According to AG Barr:
“As soon as this letter came out from the so-called intelligence specialists, the DNI, John Ratcliffe at the time, and the FBI – which worked for me – both came out and said this was not the result of Russian disinformation,” Barr said. “The media ignored that completely and just kept on going with the disinformation lie.”
Joe Biden’s Lies & the Media’s Complicity
Shamefully, the media’s classification of the laptop as a Russian plant gave the moderator at the last 2020 presidential debate cover not to question Biden about the damning emails it contained. However, when Trump asked Biden about the laptop, he also hid behind the former intelligence officials’ letter stating that the accusations were “garbage” and “Nobody believes it…”. Biden knew this was a lie.
It is inconceivable that Biden did not ask his son about the computer. It is also not conceivable that Hunter was unsure if the computer belonged to him, as he has recently claimed.
Biden also lied when he claimed he knew nothing about his son’s business dealings. Emails from Hunter’s laptop reveal Biden had dinner with Hunter’s Ukrainian, Russian and Kazakhstani business partners while he was Vice President. Days before the dinner Hunter sent an email, “Dad will be there, but keep that btw us for now.” Biden initially claimed that he had no memory of this meeting. He then stated that he was only briefly in attendance at the meeting. However, according to the Post’s Miranda Devine, he was observed staying for the entire dinner.
The guest list included Vadym Pozharskyi, an executive at Burisma Holdings, the energy firm that hired Hunter to sit on its board for $81,000 a month. And the former mayor of Moscow and his wife, Russian oligarch Yelena Baturina, who the year prior wired $3.5 million to a bank account associated with Hunter and his then-business partner, Devon Archer.
If the mainstream media was interested in the truth, rather than helping Joe Biden get elected, they did not have to look too far.
Shortly after the Post broke the laptop story, Tony Bobulinski, a former partner with Hunter in a joint venture with a Chinese energy conglomerate, came forward verifying the 10% “for the big guy” email- meaning the big guy would receive 10% of the equity in the new venture. Bobulinski, a recipient of the email, identified Joe Biden as the big guy. Neither Hunter nor Joe Biden has refuted Bobulinski’s assertions.
According to Devine, not one mainstream news outlet contacted Bobulinski.
If the US had a legitimate press, Joe Biden would have been vetted and forced to explain the incriminating emails on Hunter’s laptop. But, instead, the media acted as an extension of Biden’s campaign.
There are still so many unanswered questions. Evidence reveals the Biden family made millions from Hunter’s exploitation of the Biden name. Incredibly, the media has never pressured Biden to explain his role in Hunter’s international dealings. Nor has he answered how much he may have profited from his son’s influence peddling. We also do not know if Hunter still has active business deals with foreign adversaries.
No doubt the blackout and discrediting of the Hunter laptop story swayed voters. A poll conducted by the Media Research Center found that only 50% of Biden voters were aware of the laptop before the election. Further, almost 10% of those unaware of the Post’s reporting when they voted for Biden said they would have switched their vote if they had known.
Razor-thin margins in key states gave Biden the presidency- only 43,000 votes in 3 swing states decided the 2020 election. Did the censorship of a legitimate news story weeks before the election bring Biden over the finish line to the presidency? We will never know.
But, we do know the media is tainted with liberal partisan activists. The censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story to protect Joe Biden’s presidential campaign is only the latest example.
